{"id":376,"date":"2009-12-23T18:11:26","date_gmt":"2009-12-23T18:11:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ondrocks2000.com\/standpoint\/2009\/12\/23\/about-time-too\/"},"modified":"2009-12-23T18:11:26","modified_gmt":"2009-12-23T18:11:26","slug":"about-time-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ondrocks2000.com\/standpoint\/2009\/12\/23\/about-time-too\/","title":{"rendered":"About Time, Too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today <em>The Times<\/em> took a leaf out of our \u2018Bog off, Bruckner\u2019 post and got arts personalities to indulge their Christmas grumpiness by <a href=\"http:\/\/entertainment.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/arts_and_entertainment\/specials\/article6964184.ece\">picking out classics they secretly hate<\/a>. <!--break--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/londonjazz.blogspot.com\/2009\/12\/andrew-marr-on-jazz-btw-hes-already.html\">My pal London Jazz is justifiably exercised because Andrew Marr turns out to hate jazz<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com\/2009\/12\/23\/royal-ballet-dancer-lumps-more-coal-on-the-nutcracker\/?utm_source=twitterfeed&amp;utm_medium=twitter\">New York Times\u2019s blog Arts Beat has picked up on dancer Edward Watson\u2019s \u2018Groundhog Day\u2019 loathing of <em>The Nutcracker<\/em><\/a> \u2013 which stands accused of stranglehold, stifling all creative thought in the dance world around this time of year. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why the occasional letting off of steam versus \u201cbut everyone knows this is great stuff!\u201d can be a good thing sometimes \u2013 because, for crying out aloud, did they <em>only just notice<\/em> that about <em>The Nutcracker<\/em>?!? It\u2019s so flipping obvious, but there\u2019s this self-righteously po-faced facade hiding the truth, maintaining that we mustn\u2019t grumble in case we upset other people\u2019s Christmas spirit. Ditto for <em>Messiah<\/em>, of course.
