Over the last few days, my co blogger Shiraz Maher has written a number of blogs about the UK supporters and apologists for pro al-Qaeda preacher Anwar al-Awlaki. Yesterday, I wrote a short pamphlet which includes a comprehensive list of post 9\/11 promoters of Anwar al-Awlaki.\u00a0 Click here<\/a> for the pdf. <\/p>\n

Among the groups who have paraded Awlaki around the UK (or attempted to do so) are:<\/p>\n

The Muslim Association of Britain (MAB)<\/strong><\/u> <\/p>\n

In June 2003, the MAB website advertised eight separate events they had organised which featured Awlaki. Louise Ellman MP raised her concerns over the MAB\u2019s links to Awlaki in Parliament. <\/p>\n

In 2002, the MAB\u2019s official newspaper, Inspire<\/em>, ran an advert for their \u2018Winter Camp\u2019, which included Awlaki as one of the invited speakers. <\/p>\n

The East London Mosque (ELM)<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

In January 2009, the CSC exclusively revealed in the Daily Telegraph<\/em> that Awlaki was due to deliver a video message at the ELM in January 2009. However, the ELM was unwilling to cancel Awlaki\u2019s video message or condemn his beliefs. <\/p>\n

At a December 2003 event at the ELM on terror arrests in the UK, Awlaki urged Muslims never to report on or turn over their fellow Muslims, as \u2018You dont hand over a Muslim to the enemies\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Cordoba Foundation<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n

In August 2009, Cordoba sponsored an event in the Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall that was to feature a video address from Awlaki. The event was only cancelled at the last minute after pressure from the local council. The CSC had repeatedly informed the council of Awlaki\u2019s extremist nature, urging them to take action.<\/p>\n

This CEO of this organisation, Anas Altikriti, is regularly recommended<\/a> by Robert Lambert as a suitable partner against extremism.\u00a0 He may want to re think that position, seeing as Cordoba have been involved in promoting a pro al-Qaeda preacher. <\/p>\n

In fact, when the MAB were showcasing Awlaki in 2003, one of their directors was Anas Altikriti \u2013 notice the pattern here.\u00a0 Furthermore, when Robert Lambert was a leading member of the Metropolitan Police Muslim Contact Unit, they were major promoters of the MAB during the same time as their Awlaki \u2018road shows\u2019.\u00a0 There are some serious questions that need to be asked here, although I fear the parties involved will not be so forthcoming with the answers.<\/p>\n
