{"id":556,"date":"2009-07-29T11:49:03","date_gmt":"2009-07-29T11:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ondrocks2000.com\/standpoint\/2009\/07\/29\/bbc-s-content-sharing-could-end-up-in-court\/"},"modified":"2009-07-29T11:49:03","modified_gmt":"2009-07-29T11:49:03","slug":"bbc-s-content-sharing-could-end-up-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ondrocks2000.com\/standpoint\/2009\/07\/29\/bbc-s-content-sharing-could-end-up-in-court\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC&#8217;s Content-Sharing Could End Up in Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BBC\u2019s deal to share video news content with the <em>Daily Mail<\/em>, <em>Daily Telegraph<\/em>, <em>Guardian<\/em> and <em>Independent <\/em>may lead to legal action from its commercial rivals, according to Ingrid Silver, a partner at the law firm Denton Wilde Sapte.<!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BBC has characterised the licensing deals it has signed with national newspapers\u00a0as part of its strategic objective to open up access to such content,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo doubt it is also a further attempt to generate more revenue from existing content in response to the threat of a top-slicing of its licence fee income set out in the recent Digital Britain report. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, in so doing, the BBC is entering a market where there is pre-existing competition.
