\u201cInverted mordents at dawn?\u201d tweets my mate Sebastian Scotney over at the London Jazz <\/a>blog, drawing our attention to a somewhat unseemly spat surrounding some fine Bach pianists over whom a couple of blogosphere luminaries are crossing if not swords then quite possibly Steinways. <\/p>\n

Or make that Faziolis, the piano of choice for Angela Hewitt, whose own blog<\/a>, quoting lots of nice crits of her performances, appears to have got up Damian Thompson\u2019s nose<\/a> (Damian, btw, is the Telegraph<\/em> blogger who writes mainly on Catholic issues, but also had the good sense to flee the Mariinsky Ring<\/em> after just one hour of Rheingold<\/em>). He\u2019s written a post all about it \u2013 the Brits loathe self-promotion, remember?- oh, and besides, he\u2019s not all that mad about her playing.<\/p>\n

Now Milo Yiannopoulos has weighed in<\/a> on the debate, quoting a comment on Thompson\u2019s blog from said musician regarding the Bach playing of Andrei Gavrilov<\/a>. Will Gavrilov and his fans retaliate? His site is bound to displease Thompson & friends too: when you log on you are faced with the words WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL HOME PAGE OF A GREAT MUSICIAN. <\/p>\n

And guess what? He too has a blog. <\/a>It is not extensive, but in its own way it\u2019s priceless. Try his post about having a glass of wine with Richter and Rostropovich.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Blimey, guv\u2026 Well, I think I\u2019ll stick with my beloved Goldbergs recording<\/a> by Andras Schiff<\/a> (who does not have a blog). It was the soundtrack to my formative years and most precious memories and is coming to my desert island with me, fin. <\/em><\/p>\n
